Brother delivers performance rich devices with reduced environmental impact for customers

Brother’s commitment to the environment has resulted in weekly energy used by colour machines reducing by 29% and mono devices by 10%, whilst improving the features and performance of models.

Since 2012, the print and technology specialist has focussed on reducing the TEC (Typical Electricity Consumption) per week by complying with the specifications of the ENERGY STAR environmental label.

The environmental impact throughout the whole lifecycle of a product from manufacturing, use, through to disposal stages has been improved, with devices attaining consistent reductions in energy use for the past six years.

Brother has achieved this as a member of EuroVAPrint, a non-profit organisation which supervises the implementation and monitoring of commitments.

The membership focusses on the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Action Plan, the Resource Efficiency Roadmap and the EU Related Products Directive.

In addition to the TEC reductions, sales of devices have changed considerably, with a growing preference for multi-function devices in both mono and colour.

Mono 3-in-1 print, copy and scan DCP devices and all-in-one print, copy, scan and fax MFC devices made up the highest percentage of sales for Brother in 2017*.

Colour DCP and MFC models have doubled in percentage share over the past five years*.

Nordic Marketing Director & Sales Director Henning Elkjær from Brother Nordic said: “As an eco-conscious company, we are continually trying to reduce the energy used by devices. Our specialist team has worked hard to reduce energy used by colour machines by 29% and mono devices by 10%. To have consistent energy reductions over the past six years, whilst still improving the models is a fantastic achievement.

“Customers selecting a Brother device can be rest assured that we are striving to reduce our environmental impact, whilst still providing machines that perform significantly faster than previous ranges, with a greater range of features.”
