Brother is a clear No. 1 in printers for the large A3 format

The demand for printers and all-in-one machines that work with a larger format than the regular A4 is increasing – and so are Brother's market shares. Both in the Danish market and in Europe as a whole, Brother is the best-selling manufacturer of A3 inkjet printers. In Denmark, Brother has a superior position with almost 90 percent of inkjet all-in-one printers in A3.

Just a few years ago, only A4 printers were found in Danish offices – both in large companies, home offices and small businesses. Only specific trades such as graphic designers, photographers, engineers and architects had printers that could print in the large A3 format or even larger.

The situation has changed a lot since Brother revolutionised the market a few years ago with a series of A3 all-in-one printers which everyone could afford – and which didn't take up more space than a regular colour inkjet printer.

All-in-one printers in A3 have become bestsellers for Brother all over Europe – and in Denmark in particular. In this country, Brother's A3 machines commanded 90 percent of the market* in 2013, and the dominance continued in the first quarter * of this year. At European level, Brother is also No.1 in A3 inkjet all-in-one printers with a market share of 79 percent last year. In total, Brother sold 520,000 of these printers in Europe last year.

Brother Nordic A/S experiences that the customer segment for the popular A3 all-in-one printers is very wide. It is no longer just specific industries that buy them, but many different industries – both in the business world and the public sector and for private domestic use.

"So many people have seen the benefits of colour printing in a bigger format than A4. It could be photos and images, but also brochures, technical drawings or posters. Today, you can get A3 inkjet printers at prices that make them affordable to everyone," explains Nordic Marketing Manager Henning Elkjaer from Brother.

Brother introduced the world's first A3 inkjet all-in-one machine in 2008. Then in 2012 came the ground-breaking Business Inkjet family which for the first time printed lengthwise – in 'landscape mode' – and not in the other direction as usual.

For the time being, Brother is preparing for the launch of a new Business Inkjet series that will arrive in Europe and Denmark in the autumn.

*According to Danish analysis figures from DMR for 2013 and the first quarter of 2014. In 2013, Brother had a market share of 90.0 percent of inkjet A3 multifunction printers. In the first quarter of 2014, the proportion was 89.5 percent.
