Brother receives more design awards in Japan

Five of the coveted "Good Design Awards 2015" have moved into Brothers trophy cabinet crammed with awards from around the world. Two of the products to receive the new awards are also being sold on the Danish market. At the same time, Brother’s printers were named clearly the best in a major reader survey from the American PC Magazine.

Few people may think of it on a daily basis when working with office equipment. But good design is an important element – also with regard to such different things as printers, conference systems or practical apps.

At Brother, one of the world's major manufacturers of printers, scanners and related equipment, design has always been a key concept. Not only the physical design, but indeed, when it comes to operation, low power consumption and recycling-friendly design, too.

Brother has won wide great recognition for this strategy all over the world. Recently, Brother picked five of the highly coveted "Good Design Awards 2015” in Japan. Two of these design winners are currently on the market in Denmark:

One is the familiar iPrint&Scan app that makes it easy to use smartphones and tablets together with Brother’s popular all-in-one printers. iPrint&Scan is free and available for both iPhone, Android and Windows Phone.

The other is Brother's new OmniJoin web conferencing system shortly to be launched on Danish market.

Awards are important

The Good Design Awards were given for the first time in 1957. Since then it has evolved into an international competition in which both Asian, European and American manufacturers are participating.

Brother won its first Good Design Award in 1960 for a domestic sewing machine. Including the five awards from this year, Brother has received a total of 190 Good Design Awards over the years.

"We are pleased with all the awards, we receive. But we are particularly pleased the Good Design Awards, because our products are assessed by their appearance, ease of use, environment and recycling, as well as their ability to present new ideas to society," explains Nordic Marketing Manager Henning Elkjaer from Brother Nordic A/S.

Brother readers' choice in the US

Recently, won Brother the "Business Choice Awards" category for the third year in a row and "Readers' Choice Awards" for the seventh consecutive year in a survey conducted by the large and internationally known PC Magazine from the US. The survey is carried out every year with an opinion poll among the readers.

In previous years, Brother had to share first place in the "Readers' Choice Awards" with one or more competitors in the market, but this year Brother’s printers were alone in the lead.

In both categories, PC Magazine readers gave Brother top marks in overall satisfaction, reliability and likelihood that they would recommend the brand to others.

Four design awards from Germany

Earlier this year, Brother reaped four of the international "iF Design Awards" in Germany. More than 5,300 nominated products from 53 countries were competing.

Brother received iF Design Awards for its inkjet all-in-one printers MFC-J5720DW and MFC-J4620DW, the colour laser series L9000 and L8000, and the label printers PT-P750W and PT-P700.

With four awards from 2015 Brother has collected 50 iF Awards over time. Brother has received design awards for the eighth consecutive year.
